You heard about the major speed-ups OpenCL has promised, but you also heard that the speed-up depends a lot on the type of software/algorithm. Investment in OpenCL therefore feels risky, since going in costs time and money, while keeping out potentially gives space to the competition. As you want your customers to get the best experience and not paying an unnecessary high price, you need to know the return on investment. This quick assessment gives you exactly that answer.

Program

In less than two days your software gets analysed to come up with the best parts to accelerate. After two weeks you get an indication of total speed-up when using OpenCL (or comparable technology), based on tests with selected isolated algorithms.

In the morning after an introduction we start with discussing the focus-areas of the assessment. Then in two hours you get an introduction to programming graphics cards and vector-extensions on CPUs – intended for programmers and managers. This will give enough insight on what the potentials are, so finding the best spots in the software to speed-up gets easier.

In the afternoon your lead programmers will join the task-force and go into the data-models, UML, code and hardware-benchmarks. The following morning we discuss follow-ups and reserve time for last questions from the team.

Under NDA StreamComputing will do an initial speed-up using GPUs and send a report with the results.

Costs & Preparations

Total price is €1500,- excl VAT within Europe, €2000,-  excl VAT outside Europe. If you think we will need an extra day, the price remains the same.

For better indication of possible speed-up, you need to isolate the compute intensive algorithms from the code-base.
